Two communications professionals and former colleagues who became friends after working together to do branding and marketing for their employers, started a business. Laura Kozak, whose expertise is visual communications, and Christine Hagan, whose expertise is marketing and organizational communications, paired up to form Kogan, LLC and began doing business as Kogan Communications & Design in 2005. Over the years, Kogan has served clients in a variety of industries including nonprofit organizations, those in healthcare, education, and the government sector, as well as many small businesses.

Laura is Kogan’s owner in charge of creative services. She has significant experience in all facets of print design and is skilled in the major Adobe Creative Suite programs. Having more than 20 years of professional experience overseeing print and multimedia communication, she supervises all illustrators, photographers, and other creative services staff working with and for Kogan, and does much of the firm's graphic design work herself. Laura has served as head of Marketing & Graphic Services at the University of Maryland at Baltimore, and Creative Services Director for MedStar Health.
Chris, as she is better known to her friends, is Kogan’s owner in charge of operations, account services and marketing communications. She is the primary liaison to clients and vendors on behalf of the company’s clients, and is the firm’s chief project manager, but also plays a role in copywriting, editing and graphic design. Chris is the liaison to subcontractors and firms partnering with Kogan. She has significant experience in corporate communications, public relations, and the development of marketing collateral materials for a variety of publics. Prior to founding Kogan, Chris was Director of Marketing and Public Outreach for one of the nation’s then largest nonprofit historic preservation organizations, National Architectural Trust. She is a former Assistant Vice President for Communications and Public Relations at Harbor Hospital, a MedStar Health hospital.
While Kogan’s owners do much of the firm’s work themselves, they are supported by a staff of talented professionals with complementary expertise and experience. Kogan has teaming relationships with other creative professionals and firms assuring they are ready, qualified, and appropriately staffed for every project.
